Alaska Day 39 - Camp Baldwin to Palmer, AK

Leaving Camp Baldwin was hard... While there we made many new friends and really fell in love with the camp and what it was doing which really made it difficult to leave. However, with hugs and prayer from Dale and Neal we were on our way to Anchorage to meet up with our son and his wife who were flying to Alaska from California to spend some time with us.  So look out Richardson Highway here we come!  The Richardson highway from Delta Junction to Glennallen  where we turn onto the Glenn highway to Anchorage is another scenic drive that is hard to put into words.  With every mile we drive, the Alaska Range just gets larger and larger and the flowers bigger and more colorful and the rivers and lakes provide some of the most beautiful scenery you can imagine.  Once on the Glenn Highway we were treated to some beautiful glaciers.  Also we were right in the middle of the annual two day 400 mile Fireweed bike race... There were bikers everywhere.  We are so thankful for digital cameras.  We could not imagine how much it would cost taking all the pictures we have taken with the old methods of buying film and then having it developed... We would have to take out a loan or something; however, we have digital and there goes another and another and... picture.

Delta Junction, the end of the Alaska Highway and the beginning of our next adventure...

A couple more pictures of the Alaska Range from the Richardson highway
In some places you could see the reflection of the mountains in the lake...

The Alaska pipeline runs along the Richardson highway.

Leaving Glennallen on the Glenn highway.  More road construction; however, it was only for a couple miles.

Typical views from the Glenn highway in these next 3 pictures.

The scenery is so beautiful Linda couldn't keep her eyes open?

We spent the night in Palmer, Alaska at Fred Meyers.  Linda took these sunset pictures at midnight.
